If you are one of those people used to drink at the George Tavern in London, chances are you already know the artist of this week. JoeJas is a rapper and his own producer (and Sonic main in Smash Bros) from London. He is one of a kind artist who shouts positivity out of his personality. Talking with him was a real fun and I want to thank him for taking the time to answer my questions! Let’s hear about what he had to say!

How do you start your day?
I normally wake up check my e-mails, probably pee and yawn too.
When did you start your musical career? What motivated you to start it?
I started my music career at 11 I’d say. I was just watching MTV in the 2000’s and people like Pharrell really inspired me.
What genre of music do you play?
I wouldn’t confine myself to a genre but I guess the baseline of what I make will always be rooted somewhat in Hip-Hop. But I make loads of different stuff.
Is there an event, an artist or a band that inspired you?
Yea, early odd future putting their videos of their tours on their YouTube Channel really inspired me to go and just try shit and build my own world.
Is your music your principal work? If not, what else are you doing?
Yea it is but I also shoot and edit music videos (all the videos I’ve put out since 2017 are all shot and edited by me.) I also have a brand called Fat Llama where I make apparel and skate stuff to sell, put on events like Pop-up shops, regular music events, art shows etc.
What is the process behind your mind while creating a new piece of music?
Normally I would start with making the beat, then listen to it in my day to day till something comes to my head really, or put a melody line in my voice notes then go to my laptop and record it and build from there.
Where do you perform most of the time? On which platform is your music available?
Most of the time I perform in London (shout out the George Tavern.) My music is available everywhere you stream music really.
Where is THE place or country you would like to perform?
I’d love to do a show in Japan. That would be so fire.
What are the songs you want to share with people that don’t know your music?
Escape! off of my new album Gaps & Nomads because I think it really shows a lot of myself and what I stand for. Also I think my production on it is sick and what I’m talking about is just me as a person. Also the bridge is dumb fire.
Which artists do you listen to when you are composing or playing your music?
I normally play Timbaland before I make some stuff.
Do you have other hobbies? If yes, can you tell a little bit more about them?
Yes I skate and play Pokemon those are the main things I do if I’m not making music. Hit me for my friend code for my switch I got smash to, I main Sonic. Cause I feel like Sonic sometimes.

Never.
