#6 - Low.bō
Welcome back everyone! I hope that your week was a good one. It’s getting colder here and we can really see that the days are diminishing.
This interview will be all little bit smaller but that doesn’t make the artist less impressive! William Johnson, going by the name Low.bō is an Alternative R&B artist, which started his career a year ago. I discovered his music through while navigating Spotify and stumble upon Venus. Now, let’s dive into his universe
Can you present yourself in a few words?
Aw man, I guess i can say i’m to myself, goofy as hell & chill
When did you start your musical career?
I’ve been doing music since I was 4 but I never really started taking it serious until I was 22, so almost a year now.
What motivated you to start it?
It was really just a gut feeling I was ignoring for a while & I think just the fact that people didn’t think I could made me want to say “ight bet, watch this”; A lot of my friends either didn’t know I could sing or just thought I was focused mainly on photography (I was a photographer for 3 years). I hate being in a box.
What genre of music do you play?
I would categorize it as Alternative R&B or purely alternative
Is there an event, an artist or a band that inspired you?
Alot of my artist homies really was my foundation for wanting to get into it; when they heard ideas I had written or recorded it was always “You need to stop this camera shit & make music fr”; One of my best friends used to always tell me “put this on apple, put that on apple” not even thinking anyone was gonna listen. little shit like that matters.
Is your music your principal work? If not, what else are you doing?
One day, as of right now I do have a side job as a data analyst but It currently funds the music right now until the music does. My team & I are workin though!
Where do you perform most of the time? On which platform is your music available?
I’ve only done 2 performances so far but they were both in Maryland, I want to do more shows but with time it’ll come; my music is on whatever platform you use, Apple, Spotify, Youtube… all of it.
Where is THE place or country you would like to perform ?
Definitely California & NY but if we’re talking out of country definitely London or Shibuya; Thats definitely the play.
What are the songs you want to share with people that don’t know your music?
From personal favorite order: Ricochet, Venus & My Dogs (so all of them!)
What is the song you are the most proud of?
A demo song called Don’t Get Better. It’s about one of my closest friends passing and despite not putting it on DSP’s, it’s one of my emotional and open songs i’ve written.
What are you using to record your performance ? Are you doing everything by yourself ?
No not by myself I mainly work with my brother Jaylen Mugz for production and mixing but i’m open to all work as long as it makes sense but I have a recording situation at home too to lay down Ideas & Demos as well.
If you could recommend a small group or artist to people, which one would it be and why?
Aakhu, Aloe Fm, Asa Gee, 4KMichael, Vesta & CamQuarter; not gonna lie they make some of the craziest and unique music I’ve heard come out of MD hands down, there’s so talent coming out of the DMV area its insane.
Do you have any new songs in preparation? If so, can you give us a little hint about it?
